Dangerous
Always Running

When I saw this book I knew that it was going to be interesting read just by reading the overview of the book. A family that had just moved into The United States is trying to fit in with everyone stuck in a poor Latino neighborhood. Getting into trouble and living a very rough and dangerous life, the family does whatever they can to get the best for themselves. The author creates an action filled plot for the reader, making it so hard to put the book down.
The story begins with a regular family in Mexico that is just moving into the U.S. The main character Luis lives with his two sisters, his older brother named Rano, his dad Alfonso and mother, Maria. Growing up in L.A is quite hard for Luis, as he is very poor, mocked for his lack in English and is living in a precarious neighborhood. At an early age Luis starts to turn to gangs and violence and creates his own small gang with a friend because of the protection it provides him against the untrustworthy L.A police department. As his brother, Rano, is doing good in school, playing sports, participating in activities, Luis starts to go down the wrong path, and gets into drugs, making his relationship with his brother begin to drift away. Luis decides to join and become a member of a major L.A gang called, “The Tribe” and starts getting into even more violence. Being shot at, having gun fights and robbing turn Luis into a much different person than he was before. Luis began robbing and working for someone who would pay him to bring in goods that Luis had stolen so he can sell them for tons of cash. Luis becomes better and better at robbing the more he does it and gains more knowledge on the right place to go and what to do. Learning from advanced members teach Luis their ways and how to use guns to his advantage while robbing.
I think that this is an awesome book and there are many reasons as to why I liked it, considering it is an interesting and jaw-dropping novel. If you like any type of action packed book with tons of drama, Always Running is the way to go. I promise the great diction by the author will have you reading and reading to see what's going to happen next. Yes, there may be profanity here and there but to some people like me, I think it makes the novel much more intensive. Another plus to this book is that you get to look at a person who may have a totally different everyday lifestyle than you, noticing that not everyone goes through the same stuff as everyone else, and the influence our community has on the people who live in it.
Always Running is a great book for teens and young adult readers as it may be best understandable to those age groups. The book is a perfect length and is very easy to perceive what is going on, unlike some books that are a little too complex for the average reader. I almost guarantee that you will have a fun time with this book and won’t regret you ever decided to read it, you may even learn a fact or two you never knew before. I hope you give this book a try and enjoy reading something different and unique.
